International Night
A few days a go, Pusdiklat Bahasa carrying out a party, the name is International Night. It has purpose for known each other not only the language but also the culture between all participants.
All participants prepare few weeks before the party executed. It involve about stand and performance. My class joined in Australian group; it means we must show Australian cultures; in addition, we have same difficulties to decorate our stand and to decide what kind of performance we must show. We carrying out few meetings for prepare this party.
And then, we decide Australian Parliament House for our stand decorates, more over; we choose combine of Aboriginal dance, bush dance and waltzing Matilda song for our performance. We prepare for our performance with practice in few days and I think we ready for the party. But, two days before it, we observed with Capt. Miscell Stuards, she is our native speaker from Aussie, and she doesn't agree with our performance especially the Aboriginal dance. And then she train us how to do the bush dance correctly and also decide the new kind of our performance, it involve waltzing Maltida song and bush dance, without Aboriginal dance. Our trains begin at 08.00 to 12.00 so we can’t follow the class.
In August 26th 2008 at 19.30 the party begins. First of all, party opened by visiting from senior officers and the jury to every stands for scoring not only the stand but also the food served. After that, party continued by welcome dance, in this season staff Pusdiklat Bahasa show mask dance. Next, Kepala Badiklat Dephan has speech for submit few intentions. Then, party continued by show performance from all participants, the sequences are follows: Thailand, American, Russian, Japan, Arabic, India, Australian, Germany, Korea, and Mandarin. Finally, party closed by announced who have award in three kind of criteria: best stand, best food and best performance. We were awarded about best performance criteria, I think, because we can bring lot of guest to joint in our dance, furthermore, we make the party more hilariously. More over, our performance pure consisted of students, not like few other teams who rent professional group from outside. The party ended at 22.30.
To make a long story short, in my opinions this party is very good, it is many advantages for the students because we can share not only the language but also the culture, and then, we can growth our creativity, next, we can known at least little of foreign culture without visiting that country, and also the students have experience in teamwork. Nonetheless, we also have little disadvantages in this activity, some of students can’t following the class because must prepare the party. I have suggested for the institution: more better if this party conduct in the holiday so not disturb the class activity, in addition, we can invited more number of guest.
